What do you think of Obama's town hall meetings this past week to gain support of the stimulus?

Democrats and Republicans alike, what do you think Obama hoped to accomplish? Do you think those trips changed the mind of anyone about how they view it?

Was your mind changed?

And, finally, are you for or against, why? What do you think of Obama's town hall meetings this past week to gain support of the stimulus? If the consequences we not so dire, i would have found them quite amusing and at times hillarious ie. Julio the burger flipper and Harriet the homeless. He really didn't need to do them, they had the votes they needed anyway, he was just trying to get republicans to jump aboard his already sinking ship.

There things in the bill we need but overall it is just a big waste of money.|||I think he planned to combat the GOP media blitz. Several members of the House and Senate spent days running from one outlet to the other giving interviews where the put out a LOT of disinformation about the plan.

I think it probably had a positive effect on some people's impression of the bill. What do you think of Obama's town hall meetings this past week to gain support of the stimulus? He just dusted off one of his old campaign speeches, changed a few words and took it to the masses (or in this case, a hand selected crowd in a relatively small town that has been struggling since the 70's.|||Obama is proving to be just another politician. What do you think of Obama's town hall meetings this past week to gain support of the stimulus?I think he definitely wanted to 'sell' it to the people. I think people will still be able to see through the layers and layers of pork and know that this 'stimulus' will be the end of the US as we know it.|||This stimulus package if passed will do nothing but send the country into a deeper recession, even Wall Street isn't buying into this Stimulus.

This is illegal, that is why the Republican Party is opposing it, and trying to get the American people to see that Obama is leading this country into a depression, at the very least, the Republicans oppose it and are voting and if it is passed it will be on Barack Obama and the Democratic Party.

There is nothing they could do that would change my mind about the package or even voting for it, Pelosi and company will stand guilty as the ones who bankrupted the USA, after spending in excess of 150 million dollars, for 4 days of parties and balls, when people were loosing their homes and jobs, everyday a new company is laying off at the minimum of 500-1,000 people, sending the jobless numbers to the highest they have been since 1974.

There is no way that I would ever vote to spend money that could result in the country falling into a depression, when Wall Street, doesn't buy it, why should the American voters, Obama has done the exact opposite of what he said during the campaign, and there is no doubt that higher taxes will follow this Stimulus Bill.

Obama and the Democratic Party, will argue and say they are necessary, and that the American people need to help the government repay the almost 2 trillion dollars, that are a result of mismanagement in Washington.

The town hall meetings were designed as showing that Obama was interested in the plight of the american voters, he went to Elkhart, Indiana, after trashing the RV industry during his campaign as unnecessary, and to Florida, where he gave a woman a house in a publicity stunt.|||obama has no choice but to do his best to push this bill of 'no good'. his political life depends on the passage of this bill. this is what he has been working on for his whole(short) elected career. what he's trying to accomplish is exactly what the left has been trying to do for the past 35 or more years. he's the best avenue and most appealing person for the job right now because he managed to convince a majority of the voters to fall for his and his parties rhetoric. we have been through this before, just think back to clinton. the only reason he won was because of the back stabbing move bush 41 made with his 'read my lips' comment. the country endured 8 long hilarious but sad years. people will follow their ideological thinking as to weather or not their mind was changed. i am against it because for the most part, government makes more of a mess of things than if they would just stay out of it.
