I am planning on starting a marathon training program soon and it has specific days of cross training. It suggests swimming, biking or running, but I'm curious... Can golf be my cross training activity? I always walk when I play, so I figured just hitting some balls in between wouldn't spoil the walk too much. What do you think? Can golf be used as a cross training sport for running?Golf isn't a cardio exercise and the walking won't be enough to help with your running. Golf wouldn't be too bad for a rest day though, as it's good to at least do something light on off days to help loosen up the muscles. Getting up a walking around a golf course is better than just sitting around. Can golf be used as a cross training sport for running?Yeah, I'd agree with VIET L. The best sports to cross-train with running are biking and swimming. Biking increases your heart rate and gives you the endurance to run. It also tones and strengthens other leg muscles. But swimming gives the least impact and is best for people who have running injuries. It also tones and strengthens your whole body, not just your legs. But they both increase your lung capacity and endurance, along with strengthening your body.
Good luck. Can golf be used as a cross training sport for running? No, no, and NO!!!!
Golf does not get your heart rate up or make you lose your breath.
It might make your arms sore, if you hit hard, but it's better to swim, bike, play football, soccer or basketball because it has running.|||No.
