My Golf has been parked up for a while and the battery has gone dead. The door and boot locks also won't work, and the bonnet is obviously shut and I can't release it to charge the battery without being in the car.

Where can I find a good golf set for a beginner?

Hi, I'm starting to really get into golfing. I'm 20 years old, 6'3'' and 160 lbs. I'm also a righty. I'm not sure if all that matters but I figured I just let you guys know.

Anyways, I wanted to know your recommendations for a quality and inexpensive golf set for a beginner like me. Also, if you can include where I can find such a set, I'd appreciate it. Thank you.Where can I find a good golf set for a beginner?I would by a mid range set, but definently a name brand in case you want to resale. You could go to a shop and get fit for a set although I can tell you I play a pretty standard set up and I'm 6'2". You may want to hold off until after you play a little. Maybe get fit for your second set.

Go to a range and demo some clubs.

Get an easy set to hit that's forgiving. Stay away from blade style irons and go for cavity back. I like cobra for value and playability.

Then, once you have the necessary information, go to Ebay and price decent sets of clubs by watching the auctions to get a good idea of the norm; then decide which suits your tastes.

If they were, I'd say any big box retailer (in the US, Dick's, Sports Authority are but two of many) will have an inexpensive set you can buy.

You may want to go to a golf-specific store and see if you need to be fitted or not. How far in the ground do I place a golf tee?

I am an extremely good golfer, but I keep driving the ball short because of the tee position. If there is a website, or video explaining the best position for the golf tee, that would be magnificent. Please help. Thank-you.How far in the ground do I place a golf tee?Extremely good golfer or not, you need to find out what kind of angle driver is coming up when there is contact with the ball. If your coming at a sharp downward angle, you're going to lose distance if you tee up the ball too high.

Rule of thumb is you want to tee up the ball, so half of the ball is above the driver. Personally, I love teeing it up higher but I have a nice upward angle upon contact.

This here is a very classic way to tee it up

That's the half ball rule. It's because he expects an upward angle. You don't need a video, you just need a little trial and error.

From putting all the way to teeing up the ball the same way every time.|||an extremely good golfer would knowHow far in the ground do I place a golf tee?Really depends on what club you are hitting if it is a driver the should be in the front of your stance (in step of left foot) as you progress down the set move the ball closer to the middle of your stance|||It's usually personal preference. I tee mine up about half a ball above my resting driver or fairway wood head. With my 4 hybrid (which is more like an iron with a steroid head) and below, I pick up a stubby tee that's usually littered around the tee box. Oddly enough with my 3 hybrid, it's a ball and a half above the resting head. I've even seen people tee off with a fairway wood without a tee and it would work for them. How far in the ground do I place a golf tee?First of all, let's dispel a myth that you have stated in your question : How you tee your ball does not determine distance. It sounds like your driver does not fit your swing, but you would need to provide a lot of details in order to get a good answer about that.

The best way to tee your ball is the way that allows you to make center contact with a slightly ascending swing.|||Just use your extremely good golfing senses. If that doesn't work, try some F%26amp;*^%$% trial of error, for gosh sakes|||An extremely good golfer would have overcome any driving problem which was the result of teeing his ball either too low or too high. The rule of thumb to determine the proper height is to have the equator of the ball above the crown of the driver. The ball is positioned slightly ahead of center of the stance and the swing path is such that the ball is struck on the upswing.

What price of golf club can the normal american people can afford to?

The world economy begin to decline, maybe a economic crisis will break out. Under this back ground, the industry of golf in USA will be affacted? What price of golf club can the normal american people can afford to?In the early stages of an economic recession, golf club manufacturers may introduce fewer new clubs or brands as purchases of top-of-the-line equipment begin to fall off. Typically this time of year manufacturers will start lowering the prices on current-year models (2008) clubs in an effort to boost Q3 sales. This may actually lead to an increase in sales for discount or closeout shops, like Rock Bottom Golf [ http://rockbottomgolf.com ].

As for golf courses, they may actually see an increase in business. It has been shown that as the economy starts to sag, consumers cancel vacations and travel plans, opting instead for leisure activities closer to home. Local golf courses and driving ranges are often a first choice for these consumers.

One exception to this may be high-end country clubs. Consumers often cut such big-ticket luxury expenses quickly before making smaller, lifestyle-changing modifications to their budget.

If the economy continues to decline, then the general recession will begin to affect these other areas of the golf industry. What price of golf club can the normal american people can afford to?The myth of the so-called "Tiger Effect" that golf participation is up in the U.S. is not true. In fact, the level of golf rounds played over the past 10 years is down. I think the economy in the U.S. will have an appreciable effect on real life playing. Maybe, fewer games will be purchased by teens or whoever plays those little games.

What kind of golf notes on this course should i make?

Im playing in this tourney tuesday and im playing a practice round tomorrow, i have a golf notebook to put notes about the course in, what kind of notes should i make? What kind of golf notes on this course should i make?Keep it simple. You will have plenty of other things on your mind while playing in tournaments. Ask for the pin placement card, that will give you info on the contours of the greens. Take note of where the best place for your tee shot to land so as to assure that you have a good chance of hitting the greens in regulation on par 4's and 5's. Lastly take note of bail out areas around the greens.|||First of all, definitely the slope and break for every green. Second, assuming you've never played the course before, you won't know the holes individually. So you want to take note of what the hole is and what it's like, i.e. "long par 4 fairway slopes left, elevated green, guarded by bunkers at front left and back right." Then, write about how to attack each hole and where on the green to hit your approach, and which risks are worth taking. Include features that might not be obvious when you are on the fairway, but only when you get to the green and find out that you're in the bunker. include what is around the doglegs, if you would be best to leave it short and try for up-and-down to avoid trouble, whether you should hit it long and right towards the green, which side of the fairway, etc. just little anecdotes you will hopefully remember on the course. I would leave either one or two pages in the notebook for every hole, as opposed to the course in general, already labeled with "No. 5" or "No. 15" at the top. What kind of golf notes on this course should i make?Notes:

Greens - How the green slopes towards the green or away from the green, figure out what part of the green is a no go region by checking the slopes from back to front.

Fairways - Walk the course after youve played and stand back from the green to the tee to help you see what angle is the perfect angle for the pin its going to be that day. Do this for every hole, except par threes. Determine where the safe landing spots are for moast approach shots, if thers trouble left try and hit a shot that take the water out of player if you miss the green

Take extra notes on the course itself and right down what clubs you will want to use, hit two balls with different clubs on some holes to help you see the different positions and then decide from that. Figure out what parts of the course have the deepest rough and right this down, Notice where the ball out holes are and right it down.

When youve done this right it all down in your strokesaver, exactly what club ur hitting to a point on the fairway youve already pre choosen.

This will help|||The answers above are great for sure...the only other thing I would add is where the good misses are on each hole both on tee shots and approach shots. How do you determine the core size of a golf club's shaft?

I have searched the internet and every methot to do this requires that you take the old grip off of your club and measure. Since i will be purchasing a set of grips and installation kit online from amazon, I don't want a period of 2weeks without grips on my clubs. I dont want a professional to replace them for me for obvious price reasons. Lastly and most unfortunately the golf club maker of my set doesn't reveal this information on their website and the only contact with them is by mail [slow]. Thanks for any advice.

I use Tommy Armour Morph Irons(rifle 5.0 shaft R flex),

Adams Golf 460D (Nv regular flex),

Adams Golf ovation 4 wood (stiff flex)

these are the clubs that i wanted to re-grip.

Thanks for any advice. How do you determine the core size of a golf club's shaft? How to Properly Re-Grip Your Golf Clubs

Every golfer who decides to re-grip his own clubs should remember that the grip is the only direct contact with the club - so re-gripping must be done properly.

To properly re-grip a club, you must know the core size of the grip that you will require, and the size of the grip that best fits your hands.

Grips come in standard core sizing: .520", .560", .580", .600" and .620". There are also special-core-sized grips for oversized-butt diameter shafts, however these types of shafts are very rare now.

Determining the core size you require is simple. Just measure the diameter of the butt of the shaft you are going to re-grip.

The diameter of the shaft should match the core diameter of the grip.

Now determine what size grip best fits your hands. Grips come in regular, mid-size, and oversized or jumbo. To determine which grip best fits your hands, measure from your wrist (base of hand) to the end of your longest finger. If the dimension is less than 6.5 inches, use a junior grip; 6.5 to 7 inches, use a .560" grip; 7 to 7.5 inches, use a .580" grip; 7.5 to 8 inches, use a mid-size grip and over 8 inches choose a jumbo grip.

Once you have chosen your new grips and are ready to start, make sure that you have the following materials:

鈥?Grip solvent (place in a squeeze bottle).

鈥?Two-sided 2-inch-wide grip tape and a container to catch the unused solvent.

鈥?You'll also need a vise and a special rubber shaft holder.

All of the above should be available from major component companies.

The grip solvent I like to use is Coleman Camp Fuel. It does a great job and leaves no residue. DO NOT USE Varsol or WD40 - they leave an oily residue and some grips will become loose.

Before you start you must remove the old grips and the old grip tape. This needs to be done to leave the shaft clean and ready for the new tape and grip. Once you've done this, you are ready to ready to re-grip your clubs:

鈥?Put the shaft holder over you club shaft and tighten in the vise. Be careful not to overtighten if you are re-gripping graphite shafts - they can crack. Tighten just enough that the shaft does not move.

鈥?Cut a piece of grip tape about 8 inches long. Place it along the butt of the shaft, leaving about a half-inch over the end of the shaft. Wrap the tape around the shaft, making full contact for the length of the tape. Squeeze the tape together at the end of the shaft and push it slightly into the shaft to seal the end of the club.

鈥?Squeeze solvent along the tape. Fill the grip about three-quarters full of solvent. Put your finger over the hole in the end of the grip, squeeze the grip opening closed and shake the grip so the solvent covers the entire inside. Pour the solvent along the tape and be ready to install the grip.

鈥?Push the grip up and over the shaft butt. Hold the grip by the front and back and push using equal pressure with both hands. Once you start the grip sliding over the tape, do not stop until the grip is completely on the shaft.

鈥?Clean any excess solvent from the grip and let it sit for an hour. Then you're ready to go play. How do you determine the core size of a golf club's shaft?why don't you email the shaft makers? How do you determine the core size of a golf club's shaft?Core size. Why do you need to know? This has nothing to do with grip size. If you have large or small hands have them fitted by someone who knows what they are doing.

Golf- is it illegal to remove the pin before the ball is struck if the ball rests on the fringe?

A friend says one of his league partners told him that it was against the rules of golf to remove the pin if the ball is (or is about to be) struck from the fringe/apron. In other words, he says that the pin must be left in the hole until the ball comes to rest unless the ball's movement starts on the putting surface. Any truth? I can't find anything about it so please cite USGA golf rules if possible. Thanks.Golf- is it illegal to remove the pin before the ball is struck if the ball rests on the fringe? There are a lot of correct answers. You can have the pin removed before your shot or tended while you shoot or left alone if you're not on the green.

You can have somebody tend the flag on your tee shot. (At least, the rules allow it.)

    Some minor points:

    - You need to have the player's permission to tend the flag. If you see the ball rolling toward the hole, then run up and grab the flag stick, you will be penalized.

    - You don't need to actually be holding the flagstick to be tending it. You only need to be near it.

    - If you hit the flagstick while it is being tended (even if your shot was from the fringe), it's a two stroke penalty for you. (That means you better trust the person who's tending the flag!)

    - If your shot is from off the green and no one is tending the stick, there's no penalty if you hit the stick.|||yes the ball has to be on the green (not the fringe) for the pin to be pulled.Golf- is it illegal to remove the pin before the ball is struck if the ball rests on the fringe? That's not true. You can remove the pin before your shot, if you like. Pros remove the pin all the time for chips.|||Page 49 Rule 17: The Flagstick

17-1 : " Before making a stroke from anywhere on the course, the player may have the flagstick attended, removed or held up to indicate the position of the hole."

There are 3 notes that follow but they serve to clarify the point not make exceptions.Golf- is it illegal to remove the pin before the ball is struck if the ball rests on the fringe?Ok the truth is you can have somebody tend it. Bascially what you have to do is have somebody stand holding the pin while you set up. Then after you strike the ball and it rolls onto the green, the pin is allowed to be removed but only after it has rolled on the green. Otherwise, if you are a single your out of luck.|||No, NO, No. You can remove the pin for any shot on the fringe. The ball does not have to be struck first. If a pin is removed though, The one that is furthest out putts. For example if you have a 2 foot chip and pull the pin, the guy or girl with the longer distance to the holes goes first.|||No, the pin can be removed before a shot from the fringe.|||No, the pin is a marker for the hole from a distance. Common courtesy actually dictates that you can stand near the pin for a partner's short chip/putt, and then if the ball looks like it's going in, pull the pin and step away. This isn't normally done, but you can do it. Of course, you risk getting hit by really bad shots.|||You can remove the pin at any time. If you want, you can have somebody go pull the flag while you're teeing off (They must replace it during the other players' turns though).

It is ILLEGAL to leave the pin in while putting on the green. You can have someone tend the flag if it's far away, but if the ball hits the pin during a putt from on the putting surface, it is a penalty. You're friend may have confused this particular rule and construed it to mean you could not take the pin out if you weren't on the green.

Why is there so much BAD golf instruction out there? Do we need to standardize teaching?

Are there any peer reviewed golf journals, seems like there is alot of contradictory information in the major golf magazines. Why is there so much BAD golf instruction out there? Do we need to standardize teaching?I went to teaching conference before I gave my first lesson. I didn't have to, just felt I should have some training before I start. Two of the main speakers have articles out almost every month. They both said what they write and what ends up in print are not the same. One lost his job when he made the statement in public.

I was so confused after the second day, felt out of place sitting in a room with coat tie and half everyone age. This was 20 years ago. I went to a driving range just outside of Austin Texas to check it out. I started watching this guy give lessons that I could relate to. Two guys sat behind me and made comments but I didn't turn around. This guy kept everything simple. When the guy behind starting taking he lesson, I realized it was Tom Kite. I asked his dad what the instructors name was and he said Harvey Penick. I said Harvey who?

The PGA is coming up with some volunteer certification programs, I don't think that will solve the problem.

One problem no one has prove anything and no checks. I came unglued one night when I came across a infocomerical with my cart boy in it. He said he played on the Pepsi Tour and was Teacher of the Year....... I set him to take his PAT the next week and never saw him again. The PGA section called me and said he shot 115 on the first round, so they sent him packing.|||Golf will become a great sport as soon as they allow heckling and it becomes full contact! Why is there so much BAD golf instruction out there? Do we need to standardize teaching?there is so much bad golf instruction becuase people scrape together a few dollars and make a rip off instructional video|||I think the key to being a good golf teacher is to understand what the amateur golfer is doing wrong and what he can do to make a day on the course more enjoyable. If a player wants to become better it involves practicing and see what works best for their game. Not every teacher is a full expert, except David Ledbetter and Butch Harmon. Why is there so much BAD golf instruction out there? Do we need to standardize teaching? It is not necesarilly bad instruction, just bad instructors. In my experience (about 25 years now) Ive seen two kinds of instructors. The ones that want you to swing their way and the ones that work with what you already have and find a way ro make it work. Go to someone that will try to work with what you have already (as far as your swing goes). Some people are beyond help and need to start from zero.

As far as written instruction goes, if you see something you'd like to try make sure you consult with an instructor first. You don't have to take a lesson, but it helps if you do.

The one thing any golfer has to remember is that "golf is like sex, you don't have to be good at it to enjoy it".

How do I pick out my first set of golf clubs?

I've been to the driving range some, but I've always used the club's unknown drivers - and I really know nothing about buying my own golf clubs. Can someone give me a dumbed-down explanation about what kind of irons/wedges/whatever I need in my starter set?How do I pick out my first set of golf clubs? You can go and be fitted for a set of clubs but the best thing to do if you are a novice is to just buy a basic set of clubs to get started with. These are relatively inexpensive and will help you with learning your swing and how far you hit each club. I would not pay over $500 for a complete set of clubs if you are just beginning.

Once you learn how to play better then I would suggest going to a golf professional or a store where you can hit different irons and woods and be fitted to a set of clubs properly. Make sure that there is a PGA or USGA trained professional there to show you your swing tendancies and show you why a certain club is best for you.

Don't be surprised if the clubs they choose are not the top of the line most expensive clubs either. Most of these clubs are for golfers with low handicaps and higher swing speeds. How do I pick out my first set of golf clubs? The most important thing to realize when you are first interested in playing golf is that your first set of clubs will either make you or break you.

From experience I should know: I first started at the age of 10 with a cut down (mixed) set of clubs from my Grandfather. I didn't make any real progress with my game until I bought my first set of "real" clubs.

So, starting off with the right set of clubs is really important. I would highly recommend that you invest in a set of custom fitted clubs from "Golf Research In Play" who make the best set of clubs with the beginner in mind.

You can read my review of G.R.I.P. at the link below:How do I pick out my first set of golf clubs?i would go to a spotrs store and get a whole combo set thats the bag woods hybrids and irons and you can get a nice one for about $150-200. just stay away from acuity.

What is the difference between a "links" course and any other kind of golf course?

I've heard commentators on televised golf matches talk about links courses, but have never known how they are different from other kinds. What other kinds of courses are there? What is the difference between a "links" course and any other kind of golf course?A true links course is a seaside course with a firm sandy base. The course "links" the land to the sea. Because the wind blows hard along the sea, to effectively play links courses you must know how to hit the ball lower and run up to the hole. Links courses will be typified by rolling mounds and dunes throughout, lots of bunkering and very high rough off the path. The Scots believe that trees have no place on a golf course. There are many parts of the US that have made "links style" golf courses out of rolling farmland with many of the same features, although American operators generally over water their courses, effectively taking the lower running shot out of play.|||this is what i found on links courses........i have often wondered the same thing but never took the time to do research on it

A links golf course is the oldest style of golf course, first developed in Scotland. The word comes from the Scots language and refers to an area of coastal sand dunes, and also sometimes to open parkland. It also retains this more general meaning in the Scottish English dialect.

Many links - though not all - are located in coastal areas, on sandy soil, often amid dunes, with few water hazards and few if any trees. This reflects both the nature of the scenery where the sport happened to originate, and the fact that only limited resources were available to golf course architects at the time, and any earth moving had to be done by hand, so it was kept to a minimum.

At Bruntsfield Links in Edinburgh, Scotland, the course (a considerable distance from the coast) is still used for pitch and putt golf, and boasts a sign erected by the City Council which asserts that golf may have been invented there.

The challenges of links golf fall into two categories. Firstly the nature of the courses themselves, which tend to be characterised by uneven fairways, thick rough and small deep bunkers known as "pot bunkers". Secondly, due to their coastal location many links courses are frequently windy. This affects the style of play required, favouring players who are able to play low accurate shots. As many links courses consist literally of an "outward" nine in one direction along the coast, and an "inward" nine which returns in the opposite direction, players often have to cope with opposite wind patterns in each half of their round.

Links courses remain most common in Ireland and also in the United Kingdom, especially in Scotland. The Open Championship is always played on links courses, even though there are some celebrated courses in the United Kingdom which are not links, and this is one of the main things which differentiates it from the three major championships held in the United StatesWhat is the difference between a "links" course and any other kind of golf course?A links course is built on linksland the land that separates the farmland from the land next to the sea that has been shaped by the on shore winds off the sea. This land is usually hard packed sand and filled with dunes and was only ever used as pastureland. In its' natural state it was easy for a course designer to simply find a route plan through the dunes to act as a golf course and minimal work had to be done to shape greens and tees. Being close to the sea and so windswept there was always a lack of trees and gorse and fescue acted as the rough. Inland courses were usually well treed and even when built on open farms trees were planted to make them parkland settings. It has become popular of late to try to duplicate the barren links courses inland but they just never measure up to the true linksland courses.|||a true links course is one that is usually out in the open and close to the ocean so strong winds are normal. links courses are set up to play in the wind where you are supposed to hit the ball low to keep it under the wind and roll it up onto the green instead of flying all the way there like on most courses. most of the courses in europe are old school links courses with the ground being hard so it has to be played that wayWhat is the difference between a "links" course and any other kind of golf course?Watch the Open Championship in July and you'll notice that true links courses are absent of trees and are near the sea. Links courses allow nature to help or hinder a golfer.|||Pretty much the defference is That Links courses Have conected fairways and green. And a U.S. course has more breaks with rough inbetween the fairways and greens.|||Links are mostly hilly and open space, no trees like the British Open.|||I'm pretty sure links courses have shorter-length holes, and they may be only 9 holes total. I think par 3 courses are considered links.

How many hole in ones were their in 2009 on the european golf tour?

How many hole in ones were their in 2009 on the european golf tour?

Where can I find out where the hole in ones took place on the European golf tour in 2009? And going back further if possible. I have checked search engines and cannot find an answer.

CHARLIE TUNA IF YOU DON'T KNOW THE ANSWER THEN DON'T RESPOND.How many hole in ones were their in 2009 on the european golf tour?Statistically the probability is that a hole in one will be scored nearly once every event (over the 4 days, as 1 HinOne every 4.5 rounds of golf where all professionals playing and a 144 strong field). In the 2009 tour there were 53 events so statistically there should have just under 50 holes in one. That said the actual figure may be quite different. As for the exact figure I cannot find any information on that front.

In fact i am not sure I agree with this myself now as after the second day cut there would be half as many players in the field and therefore half as many chances for a hole in one. So I would estimate maybe 35 holes in one is the statistical probability. See what you think.

What area of South Carolina is the best place to visit for golf?

My friends and I are looking to take a guys weekend for some golf, beach and relaxation. We are all 23 years old and want to find a place in South Carolina that is affordable and is a nice spot to enjoy some golf as well as hanging out by the ocean in early June. A city right on the ocean is mandatory, and finding a hotel/villa right on the beach is preferred. What area of South Carolina is the best place to visit for golf?Myrtle is the best place for a guy's trip, and it's pretty affordable as well.

Hilton Head is more expensive, has less nightlife and stuff that 20-something guys want to do, and really isn't a value destination. I prefer Hilton Head to Myrtle when going on family trips, but if I was going with buddies I'd do Myrtle.|||Myrtle obviously is your best bet, but starting after Memorial Day, it gets super crowded with family vacations, and that is right about when the grammar schools get out so the beach will be swarming with little kids- but, if you insist on staying on the beach in June, there are penty of hotels/condos available that offer golf packages but expect the rates to be high. Check out myrtlebeachgolfholiday and you can book your hotel and tee times. Is playing golf safe for a person with minor back problem?

My wife is about to start learning and playing golf, but she has bit of back problems. For normal everyday stuff, she's fine, but she concerned that the golf swings might cause her back problem to get worse.

I am thinking golf swing would give back excercise thus helps with her back, but then I guess it could have an opposite reaction.

What do you think? Is playing golf safe for a person with minor back problem? You should check out don trahan's PPGS at peakperformancegolfswing.com

there is no back pain, no shoulder pain, anything. and it helps you hit the ball further and lower your handicap|||Hello there,

That is a valid concern and one not to be taken lightly. None of here knows the nature and extent of your wife's back problems. Before she undertakes any type of exercise regimen she should talk with her doctor. He can best advise her as to whether will risks further injury.

I would also suggest that due to her back problems, she does not want to run the risk of learning the game by trial and error. Even if playing golf properly would not harm her, improper swing techniques might increase the risk of harm. She really should consider getting lessons to start. Those can be private lessons or the less costly group lessons. Many golf courses offer beginner classes and in some cities the parks department also has golf classes available. Learning proper swing techniques would minimize the risks.

I cannot say that the gold swing or the walking of the course will be therapeutic with regards to her back. I can say that golf has helped me maintain flexibility. So yes, there can be benefits to the exercise involved.

Good luck to you and your wife. Just need to manage your amount of play and stretch a lot. I notice when my back is acting up. I actually play better, because i am using the big muscles instead of just going at it with my back and arms. But do ask your doctor first. I'll bet the doctor will say is ok.|||Dont do it. I don’t play much either, but this tip worked immediately. On the practice green before the round, you estimate in your head how many seconds you think a ball will take to roll to the hole. Count out loud while scanning the path from the ball to the hole: “one-one thousand, two-one thousand, three-one thousand, four-one thousand…” until the ball gently rolls PAST the hole.

Then while you hit the putt, set up correctly, don’t move your head and make a couple practice strokes. When you make the putt, start counting.

This will help distance control greatly. People will also admire your putting and remember you for that.

For someone who doesn’t play much, the best tip is to pick up your ball if other people are waiting on you. Drop your ball on the green and just have fun putting. If you make 8 or more shots on ONE hole you’re going to hold people up. "Pace of play" is more important to golfers than manners or etiquette. What is the most helpful tip you have received or given for golf?I consider all tips helpfull. Some of these tips apply to others

more than myself. Define your problem areas then search for

tips. You will find help for all your troubles on the golf course,

most of them free. Study the fundamentals; like keep your head down , eyes on the ball; correct club selection.etc etc.

Most important I play every chance I get. Practice on my lunch hour read magizines watch golf channel. Good luck.|||Hit the ball short and controlled rather than long and wayward.|||keep your back straight and butt out|||I've said this before... Just hit the ball, let the club do the work. Grip, stance, club, all that don't mean a thing if you don't make contact.

Fore!|||The best advice I ever heard was,"Don't take playing advice from people on the internet."|||Just feel it.|||It is all about the through swing. You MUST have a glide to your swing.|||Off the green, us a 7 or 8 iron and leave the pitching wedge in the bag. Learn the bump and run.|||Swing hard in case you hit the ball!|||IT IS ALL ABOUT THE TEPMO

How could i become a golf caddy?

Im 16 and looking to become a golf caddy for more experience. I play off handicap of 12 and knoweverything about golf. Im from Liverpool so could anybody let me know how i could become one and if you know anyone from Liverpool who wants one.How could i become a golf caddy?I caddie'd for several years and it was a great experience. The roots of professional golf are from the caddies.

How to get in: Go to a club nearby and fill out an application with the Caddie-Master. When you show up to apply, be clean cut and respectful. Most golfers could actually care less about what you know about the game, they want someone that knows the yardage on each hole, keeps up with the group (or a caddie that always stays out in front is the best). Caddies are ranked. It takes a year or two to achieve the highest ranking (and the most money per "loop", or round of 18). You also need recommendations from the golfers to get promoted. At the beginning of the season, when a lot of new caddies show up for work, there is usually a training day for the newbies which you have to go through before you are approved for work. This includes ettiquette, how to rake a trap, knowing when its your turn to tend the pin (when your golfer is closest to the hole), where to stand throughout play, and how to introduce yourself properly to the golfer...as in, "good afternoon sir, your caddie's name is Henny".

I'm sure you've watched the movie caddyshack, which is a classic (not really true, but hilarious) movie about caddying. Another really outstanding movie you must watch is "the greatest game ever played".

Don't try to be the golfer's teacher or tell him what to do, even if you are obviously better. Only answer when asked for advice, and always make an effort to pump your golfer's self esteem a little with the answer...i.e. tell him what he can do, not what he can't do with the shot.

Lastly, if you want the good loops that pay the best tips, stay on the good side of the caddiemaster, whether its cool or not. The caddiemaster assigns the work and he is the boss. Don't ever forget it (at least not when he is around).

Almost forgot! When you apply for the job, don't forget to ask if caddie's can play free on certain days of the week (usually Mondays)...this is a good bonus and maybe a chance to work your handicap down to a 7 or 8 in a few months.

    Good luck, matey. Cheers --

What if i was driving and out of no more a golf ball next to the golf place and it hit the windshield?

Is it going to break or a spot?

and can it cause a accident or no?

if it is then how? What will happened if a Golf Ball hits the car windshield while driving? The windshield is laminated. So if it did break, it would not shatter, it would stay together. It would at least cause a large crack or more. It would not go through the windshield.

What are 3 physical properties that make a golf ball diffrent from a table tennis ball?

Could someone please help me with this question..?

What are 3 physical properties that make a golf ball diffrent from a table tennis ball? What are 3 physical properties that make a golf ball diffrent from a table tennis ball? The weight (or mass) of the golf ball is much greater than that of the ping-pong ball.

A ping pong ball is a hollow object, which behaves quite differently from a solid object.

The surface of a golf ball is not a smooth surface, but has regular part-spherical depressions

The elastic properties of golf balls and ping pong balls is very different. The force that is usually applied to a golf ball would completely crush a ping pong ball. What are 3 physical properties that make a golf ball diffrent from a table tennis ball?hi,

A ping pong ball is a hollow plastic object.

There are basically two different variants of golf balls that can be found today. One is the wound ball and the other is the two piece ball. The wound ball is what the professional golfers generally use and it consists of three components. The core is usually a hard piece of rubber or a liquid core that is tightly wrapped in a rubber like tread. Once the thread is finished the wind, a hard plastic shell is laid over top. This type of ball is designed for maximum velocity, yet has a relatively short lifespan.

Today鈥檚 casual golfer is more apt to use golf balls that are of the two piece variety. These balls usually have a solid core of rubber and are layered with a hard outer plastic shell. These balls while not as efficient as the wound balls do offer a longer lifespan and are cheaper to purchase. What are 3 physical properties that make a golf ball diffrent from a table tennis ball?it is tougher (less elastic) denser and larger.

  • How to calculate distance from the hole in golf?

When golf is on TV, you see pros walk off steps from a known point, such as a sprinkler head, to their ball. But since their ball, the hole and that known point don't form a straight line, how do they know the exact distance to the hole?

In my mind, those three points form a triangle, which most likely doesn't have a right angle, so even Pythagoreus would have difficulty with the math. How do they get it down to a precise number like 171 yards? How to calculate distance from the hole in golf? The other guys statement is correct, but he didn't really answer the question. The tour pros do have a great yardage book, in fact most of them use a book specially designed for the course they're playing, not available to anyone except them. Then they have a pin sheet with the pin location for the entire week and their respective yardages on the green.

However, even armed with all this information, you are correct, the yardages are still not exactly correct.

But you have to remember a golfer has to take many things into account when pulling a club, and this is a golfer at any level of play. For instance, I take these things into account when I pull a club:

    1) Lie - rough or fairway? Uphill, Downhill, Sidehill?

    2) Wind - Speed and Direction

    3) Temperature? Hot or cold?

    4) Is the green soft or hard?

    5) Do I need to hit the shot around an obstacle?

    6) Do I need to curve this shot to get to the pin?

These are just a few of the many things a golfer has to take into account when figuring out which club to hit, it's not just strictly yardage driven. Although yardage will give you a good baseline target to start your computations.

Remember this, many people consider Ben Hogan the greatest ball striker and iron player of all time......he NEVER used a yardage book. That statement should tell you everything you need to know.

Hope this helps! How to calculate distance from the hole in golf?Professional golfers and their caddies spend hours walking off and measuring the course from various points (such as the sprinkler heads, rocks, etc) to the middle of the green in the days preceeding the tournament and hit many shots from those points during practice rounds -- which is why if you've ever watched an early week PGA practice round, you see golfers hitting multiple balls from one spot on almost every hole. Then, each day of the tournament, the caddies go out and find the hole placement and walk off how far it is from the center of the green.

All of this information is on that little book (pad of paper) that the caddy or golfer carries and occationally TV shows them looking at.

I average around 100 in 18 holes of golf, but this is usually on college level courses. I'm not very good with my driver and my putting needs a lot of work. How do you compensate for wind in simulation golf?

I really would like to know how to compensate for the wind in my 2008 Tiger Woods Golf Game. How far do I make the arrow go to compensate righ or left wind direction. How do you compensate for wind in simulation golf? Not having used a simulator, wind compensation is a matter of experience . On the golf course any breeze up to 10 mph should be forgotten for it usually has little effect on the golf shot.. Play your normal shot as if there was no wind. A strong cross wind of 15 to 20 mph favoring a slice play 20 degrees into the direction of the wind. Anything over 25mph , get off the course because the experience will not be a favorable one.How do you compensate for wind in simulation golf?Golf simulator systems are used to reduce the amount of real estate needed to enjoy the golfing experience. A standard golf course includes relatively long fairways which are used for driving and iron-play. A standard golf course also includes relatively smaller putting greens and green-approach areas which are used for pitching and putting.

What is a great way to keep your attitude under check while on the golf course?

I have been playing golf for about 2 years and i'm doing great. But when I hit a bad shot then I go crazy. I keep hitting the ground. I was wandering if anyone could help me with this thanks. What is a great way to keep your attitude under check while on the golf course?I have heard one tip from someone that could help. It goes like this, after you have hit your shot try and count how many bounces it takes, this will take your mind off the worry for result and anger.|||In playing golf, your opponent is yourself. This means on one can destroy your score. If you would like to be a winner, you should remind yourself all the time during playing on course that you have practiced hard to win this competition, so you will not think of the last shot as well as the next shot, and you will make the best of present shot. It seems no benefit to do think of the bad things destroying you score. What is a great way to keep your attitude under check while on the golf course?I used to do the same thing. My dad always told me just get the shot out of your head because if you keep thinking about it you will continue to mess yourself up. Personally I sing songs in my head to distract myself. It's basically just thinking about something other than the past.|||This is the hardest part of the game of golf from newbies to PGA pros.

At 2 years, you are expecting too much of yourself. Try to remember you are out there to HAVE FUN. Don't hold yourself to some arbitrary standard that's unrealistic. Good golfers are the result of lessons and practice, even good athletes are naturally bad golfers.

We all shank em once in a while, it's part of the game. Your character is revealed in how you react and move forward. None of us are Tiger, and he hits LOTS of crummy shots.

If you watch the guys on TV they aren't making perfect shots every time, it's how well you get yourself out of trouble that counts. What color khakis are appropriate to wear to golf in?

I am in a golf class and i have to buy some khakis, but i have a problem, i cannot wear tan because i look horrible in tan khakis and i will get them too dirty. Can i wear black and navy blue, or grey or green colors? What color khakis are appropriate to wear to golf in?As long as they're good move able pants. I actually wear plaid shorts.|||Frankly, khaki is a color, not a style. In fact, the name of the color khaki coined in British India comes from the Hindustani language (itself a borrowed form of the Persian and Lurish word khak meaning dust), meaning "dusty, dust covered or earth colored." It has been used by many armies around the world for uniforms, including camouflage. Most notably, khaki was used by the British Army in India beginning in 1848.

Having said all that, "Docker" styled pants in any muted color are fine for golf. Black is popular, as is white, gray, etc. As your game improves, you may want to wear more flamboyant colors, but style should always follow performance. What color khakis are appropriate to wear to golf in?I work at a local golf course and during the winter we allow customers to wear jeans, nothing over the top like skinny or ripped jeans. Also any color khakis are fine, i have a pair of blue khaki shorts. As long as they are appropriate length and you don't look like a slob they should allow you to play. :) good luck|||Ruth, you'll likely not appreciate my answer but I give it in the interest of golfers everywhere.

If you are taking up golf just concentrate on learning to play the game, along with the learned courtesies inherent to the game.

Forget about the 'duds' you'll be wearing. I assure you, the group behind you on the golf course could not give a flip about your fashion sense if you are 'taking all day' to play because you spent all your preparation time on clothes versus golf skills. What color khakis are appropriate to wear to golf in?It doesn't matter- black, navy blue, red, gray, pink- if it looks good on you, and it matches the rest of your outfit, who cares? Black is definitely the simplest to coordinate outfits and look good in, but to each their own.

If you're really worried, think of it this way. You could always look like this... http://www.sportressofblogitude.com/wp-c鈥?/a>|||Grey color is good.|||it is not so important for what you are wearing i think.

perhaps the technique is far more important and your golf balls.

What does stable mean when talking about disc golf?

I have been watching a lot of youtube videos about disc golf, and they keep saying the word "stable." Does that mean flying straight? What does stable mean when talking about disc golf?Yes when people are talking about Stable they are talking about a disc that is fairly straight. Then of course you also have overstable and understable. Some examples are: (I don't throw much Discraft so these are all Innova)

    Stable : TeeBird

    Overstable: Firebird

    Understable: Sidewinder

If you are starting out everything will most likely seem overstable for you but once you start to develop a form you will start to see the disc start to straighten out for you and do what they are meant to.

At the bottom of the following there are some common disc golf terms in case you come across another you aren't sure of.

    http://www.discgolfreview.com/resources/鈥?/a>

-ChrisWhat does stable mean when talking about disc golf? One that travels, for the most part, straight with little to no turn, and only a slight fade at the end (Tee-bird, BUZZZ etc).

What does stable mean when talking about disc golf? No, that's what a lot of people think, but it's an oversimplification.

To understand what disc stability is, you have to understand the gyroscopic aspects of disc flight.

Say you throw a nice high anhyzer. If you're a right-handed backhander, that means the disc starts out tilted to the right. That's the tilt of its gyroscopic axis. Because of torque-free precession, the axis of rotation will move around in a circle in the same direction as the disc spins. So a right-backhand anhyzer starts out tilted to the right, then rotates till it's tilted backwards, then over to tilted left. Hyzer does the opposite, right-forward-left. That's why anhyzers get more height but less distance, because the leading edge of the disc turns upward midway through the flight. The disc changes direction in its S-curve once the axis moves from left to right or right to left.

The exact definition of stability is how fast that axis rotates. A more stable disc has slower precession, meaning it takes longer to flip from anhyzer to hyzer. Because most throws can at best hyzer-flip through three half-S's, a stable disc can go farther, but it's also harder to control the throw. If it's too stable, it might fade too quickly.

Most discs are tested with a fade value, and that's a better indication of how straight a disc will fly. Discraft prints a number value on every disc. A higher number means a straight shot will fade sideways more at the end. All discs fade left if they're spun clockwise, and right if counterclockwise, again because of gyroscopics. Or the opposite if they're upside down. Fade is actually a 3d kind of tilting effect rather than a sideways motion, and it's what makes turnover shots possible.

If you're new to disc golf, you are much better off using an understable to stable disc than an overstable one. Overstable discs are unforgiving if you make any mistakes, and many are for specialized throws or styles. Some overstable discs are meant for turnover shots or meant to fade quick. I have a Champion Firebird that fades hard almost immediately, but I can't turn it over, so I don't use it.

for Innova's, you can generally depend on Leopards, Cheetahs and Eagles to give you reliable performance. Valkyries too. Beast is ok but it has a hard kick at the end of its flight. Discrafts, I use the XL and a Reaper. You might try the Avenger, a good, mid-stability extreme range disc.

A lot of people are throwing 150 gram Innova Wraiths lately. I'm sure you've seen them, they're bright yellow. Excess fade in action.|||Yes.

What amateur tournaments do i play in for golf to get noticed by the pga?

Can someone please help me out there, i want to start playing in golf tournaments so i can get noticed by sponsors, the pga, can someone please help me with what to do.What amateur tournaments do i play in for golf to get noticed by the pga?You don't get "noticed" or drafted by the PGA Tour. You go to Qualifying School and earn your tour card, or you don't. That's pretty much it.|||There are two organisations; neither of which scouts players:

    -The PGA Tour

    -The PGA of America

The PGA Tour runs the professional tour by its namesake (save for majors and the Ryder Cup).

The PGA of America is the larger body for club professionals and the like. The PGA of America runs two events- the USPGA Championship (one of four majors), and co-runs the Ryder Cup (picks the captain, venues when the US is host).

Neither body cares how good you are. The only thing the PGA Tour wants is your handicap (scratch or better) and your checque for $5000 to cover entry into Q-School, which doesn't cover your travel expenses.

If you're talking about being on the PGA Tour, your amateur record is largely inconsequential. Assuming you have no status (and odds are you don't), your have two tracks to making it on the PGA Tour:

    1) Gain entry into an event via sponsor exemption (file under 'when pigs fly'), or Monday-qualify for a PGA Tour event (the Monday prior to every non-invitational tournament they hold a qualifier for four spots in the field). Make one of the four spots and you're in the field. Then all you need to do is win the tournament and presto, you get a PGA Tour card and a 2-year exemption. You're talking about beating out 150++ other players, all of whom have the same ambitions and goals.

    2) Qualify for the PGA Tour through Q-school. Again, with no prior status you'll need to make it through a preliminary stage and three following stages (used to be just three but they have an added stage for the unknown entities such as yourself). The number of people who earn cards out of the first stage is a small handful (just to make it out of the first stage you'd need to finish in the Top 15 in a field of 100-115 other hopefuls and then repeat this at second stage, and at finals finish T25 in a field of 180++ over six days). Understand that when you get to second stage you're up against past Tour members, PGA Tour winners, and the odd past major champion. Third stage? The bar is even higher. In 2005, out of 1000 guys who entered at first stage, a small handful earned PGA Tour cards and probably 900-950 of them have the ability to play on the Tour (it comes down to being able to handle playing well under pressure...can you handle making a 6-foot sidehill putt when, if you make it you're playing on either the PGA or Nationwide Tour or you're essentially on your own for the next 12 months?).

As far as sponsors...if you're good enough, they will notice you. Trust me- if you're playing in third stage (finals), sponsors and agents will be all over you if you're in the mix.

Your first step would be to turn professional and forfeit your amateur status. Play mini-tours (the Hooters/NGA Tour and the Canadian Tour are probably the most well-known, but depending on where you live there might be regional tours; essentially you pony up large entry fees and try to win money back by winning). If you can handle paying $1000+ per week in entry fees (and more importantly learn how to score in tournament golf by finish top-10 (where you'll make money) that will help you more than playing in amateur events).

If you don't have the scratch for this, get some locals to invest in you (typically they invest to cover your fees/expenses, and you pay them back by giving them a cut of your prize money for the next "X" number of years). Here's a hypothetical:

-You find 10 local business types who know you, and think you can make it. You convince them to invest, let's say $10,000 each in you. That gives you $100K to cover entry fees, travel expenses, equipment, and the like (they might give you a "salary" once you earn prize money). You agree to give them (collectively) 25% of your prize money for the next three years (so if you earn a checque at a tournament for $10,000, you keep $7500 and give your investors $2500) regardless of where you play. Keep in mind that you are most likely paying taxes on the $10,000 in this example). If you go bust and don't make enough to cover their original investment, they lose and you are likely done. If you somehow hit it big, they more than recoup their investment. This example was from a proposal I was pitched in fall 2009 by a friend of a friend who played on the 2010 Canadian Tour. What amateur tournaments do i play in for golf to get noticed by the pga?the pga doesn't need to recruit players. by the size of q-school (pga membership tournament process) they have more people who want to play pga golf than the senior pga tour, pga tour, and nationwide (jr pga) tours can accommodate

for you to even consider getting noticed by sponsors, commercial or private, you need to be a scratch golfer just to start with. it would help if you have won or at least placed in the top 10 usga amateur tournaments

get your handicap down to zero or at least single digits, play usga and mini-tour tournaments. you can always try monday qualifying for those tournaments that allow it. and if you are good enough maybe you have a chance|||US Amateur or US Publinks - Win them and you get an invitation to the Masters and US Open
