In the spirit of diplomacy, should Obama have been invited to the royal wedding? Why or why not? Also, why do you think he isn't while other foreign leaders are? Does it have anything to do with our foreign relations with England? In your opinion, should President Obama have been invited to the royal wedding? It was my understanding that Obama requested not to be invited because of security concerns for both themselves, and the royal family.|||No, ironically the British people overwhelmingly supported president Obama during the election but for superficial reasons, as it was seen as a breakthrough for America to have a black president. However Obama since becoming president of the United States has spent his time going around the world snubbing all of Americas true allies, and treating them with contempt, while sucking up to Americas enemies who laugh at him and don't respect him. You can find out about all this on the internet. The argument that he was not invited because it is not a state occasion is just an excuse, many leaders and loads of people including a lot of Americans who are not from the commonwealth were also invited.
After what he did the last time he came here, many in the government would rather he didn't come, we love Americans-just not Obama. In your opinion, should President Obama have been invited to the royal wedding? Most of the foreign heads of state who've been invited are monarchs, not presidents. Then there are the heads of government and governors general of Commonwealth countries that the Queen is head of state of. None of those apply to Obama.
Then of course there's the whole security issue, this is a big enough headache for the security forces without throwing in the President of the US as well.
And, of course, it needs to be pointed out that this is not a formal State occasion as it would be for the heir to the throne, so many people who would be invited to such an event are not invited to this. For instance, former Prime Ministers Gordon Brown and Tony Blair have not been invited.|||As soon as Obama took office, he took the bust of Winston Churchill which was a gift from England to the American people. Churchill was an English hero. Obama boxed it up, and sent it back to England. This had to do with his grandfather's experience in 1949 with the British in power in Kenya back in the 50's. Allegedly, Obamas grandfather, was involved in the Mau Mau uprising, imprisoned and tortured for two years by the UK government.
Nonetheless, Obama had no right to return the Churchill bust. It was NOT his property to dispose of. It belongs to the American People. This action was a deliberate slap in the face of our strongest ally, as well as illegal disposal of non-owned property.
Also, if you had watched the news when Mrs. Obama went to England, and visited with the Queen of England, this very large woman from America, put her arm around the Queen. NO ONE touches the Queen like that. NEVER. So Mrs. Obama probably felt she was an equal, which she is not. This was the second HUGE mistake.
Besides these two huge breeches of etiquette, I don't think the Queen believed the Obamas could be counted on to follow the rigid protocols involved in such an historic event. They have shown improper protocol on numerous occasions. In your opinion, should President Obama have been invited to the royal wedding?Who cares? Prince William is not the direct heir to the throne so his wedding is more private and he and Kate do not know the Obamas. Only leaders they invited are royalty and leaders of the commonwealth.
Leaders of Italy, France, Russia, and other countries with non-royal leaders are not invited either. Really. Who cares?|||I think because of his many faux pas in dealing with the Royals and with members of the British government. Who knows what foolishness he might commit at the wedding?
I don't think it has anything to do with our foreign relations with England. He probably gave the royal couple a box of Star Wars videos as a gift or something.|||No . He made 2 mistakes . When he first got in office the very first thing that he did was get rid of the Winston Churchill bust and sent it back to England.
Mistake #2 was when Michelle Obama touched the Queen by putting her arms around her .A MAJOR mistake.
Bottom line an insult and faux paux are the reasons.|||The royal wedding is not a political event and nor should it be.
Most of the leaders going happen to be leaders of Commonwealth countries and they have a requirement to attend. Most will most likely not end up going tom the reception.|||I think that the other leaders were part if the common wealth and it was not a state event as prince william is not first in line to the throne...if it was a state event he might have been:)|||If he was invited %26amp; went, the Right would be saying he's taking another unnecessary trip during a time when the economy needs his attention.|||I read somewhere that the wedding is not being treated as a state occasion so it is not obligatory to invite world leaders.|||I'm sure he's really "crushed," as we all are, that we don't have to go. Unless he's good "buds" with the wedding couple, I doubt he would be invited.|||Only if he was a personal friend- which he is not and other leaders are.
I am just glad he found his birth certificate so he can get a passport!|||I don't think an American president should be kowtowing to the Queen of England's family or the Pope for that matter.
Unlike the royal family, the president works for a living.|||who cares about either family???
