But really, it probably became a standoff because Obama or a politician interfered. It was resolved by the skills of U.S. military servicemen -- not the gamesmanship of a politician. Do you really think that 3 navy Seals couldn't have taken all 4 of the pirates out with 50mm rounds -- through a concrete wall? There were probably 3 other seals as 'safeties' and to ensure the hostage's 100% safety they coaxed one of the pirates off the boat. The pirates were dead as soon as the Seals arrived. I doubt you will see any more U.S. ships being attacked by pirates.
The Seals don't want medals. They want to take out some more terrorists/pirates.|||Two things, one Obama does not have to issue the order, a commander can. The president does not have to give an order for a snap-decision. Another, Obama did issue an order saying use all means necessary, including hostile metheods if they fear the captains life is in danger.
The Seals broke no law, they did nothing wrong. Why are you blaming people who freed the American. Every President allows a military commander to use judgment and take the necessary action needed to protect their command, troops, Americans, and other non-combatants.
Obama did nothing good or bad, he stayed the course every President has taken throughout history to allow the commander on scene to make the call.

Pretty routine thing to ask commander in chief for authorization of US military force out in foreign territory or water. All Obama did was say ok. Signed off on request.
Weren't there whole bunch of US soldiers who were charged for killing or other things during Iraq War under Bush's watch? So I can say Bush put US soldiers in jail for fighting in his own war???????|||bravo for the navy seals! I was waiting for this to happen , and yes it did! if the money would of been given to the pirates , the respect that the U.S has earned would of been fatally lost , inviting other enemies to the door!
